At its core, breathwork is about connecting more deeply with yourself and your own innate energy for healing and growth. When you learn to breathe with intentionality, you're freed from the draining cycles of fear, stress, and self-neglect that modern life can breed. You unplug from the frenetic demands of work, relationships, parenting, and societal pressures. You plug into the eternal rhythm of your own breath - your most precious life source.

Here are a few ways it breathwork can help you in:

Lowering Blood Pressure & Heart Rate

Multiple studies found that "even a single session of breath work significantly reduces blood pressure and increases heart rate variability." High blood pressure is a major risk factor for heart attacks, strokes, heart failure, and premature death. Through controlled breathing, you can naturally improve these markers of cardiovascular health. (Wang et al., 2010; Lehrer and Gevirtz, 2014; Wei et al., 2016)

Decreasing Stress, Anxiety & Depression

Multiple studies show breathwork is an effective low-cost treatment for managing stress, anxiety, PTSD, and depression. By activating the body's relaxation response, conscious breathing helps counteract the "fight-or-flight" response that underlies many of these conditions.  (Brown, 2005)

Boosting Brain Function, Memory, and Attention

Research suggests breathwork increases beta wave activity in the brain areas associated with cognitive performance like attention, memory, and executive function. In other words, it helps you think more clearly and be more focused and productive. (Bhatia et al., 2003; Snayder et al., 2006)

Improving Respiratory Health

For those with asthma or other respiratory issues, breathwork strengthens the diaphragm and other breathing muscles while clearing out excess mucus. This enhances lung function, increases energy levels, and facilitates physical activity. (I. Shaw, B.S. Shaw, G.A. Brown)

Managing Hypertension

"Slow breathing can be used as an alternate, non-pharmacological therapy for hypertension individuals to reduce blood pressure." (Herawati I, Mat Ludin AF, M M, Ishak I, Farah NMF)
